Here at The Providence Group, we are proud to provide you the opportunity to Make Space for Life for years to come with upscale and spacious single family homes and townhomes in desirable locations throughout Metro Atlanta. We remain strong and committed to building not only beautiful homes, but homes that provide low maintenance living within communities offering outstanding amenities in the most sought after locations in Cherokee, Cobb, Forsyth, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties. We also pride ourselves on being homegrown and partaking in helping maintain Georgia’s historical landmarks in the process of building our new communities including the Ben Manning House at East of Main in downtown Alpharetta.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle just featured an article on the preservation of Alpharetta’s historic properties in which we were featured for restoring the Manning House. The Manning house was built in 1910 by Ben Manning who utilized wood from a neighboring sawmill. Ben Manning and his wife Lure Poole Manning lived in the home with their seven children. He planted six oak trees, with two still visible today. Ben Manning was a farmer and worked in the mercantile business on Hwy 9 in Alpharetta. He also assisted in the creation of the Milton County school system, now Fulton County. His brother Howell Manning worked in the state legislature and had the county name changed from Milton to Fulton to receive state funding for local schools. The entire Manning family were devoted members of the Alpharetta First UMC and donated much of the land still in use today as their church grounds.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle interviewed our Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Kingsfield, who described the process of preserving such an historic home that had been neglected for at least 40 years. The Manning House is now the perfect example of an early 1900s farmhouse and The Providence Group is proud to showcase such beautiful history at the entrance at East of Main.
The Manning House ties it’s southern charm into our stunning East of Main community and remains the focal point for all to see from Academy Street.
