Atlanta’s Best New Grant Park Homes

December 27th, 2019

Home of Atlanta’s oldest park and gorgeous historic homes, the city’s Grant Park offers many opportunities for both living and learning in the city. In the latest vlog from The Providence Group, Susie Proffitt with Atlanta’s Best explores new Grant Park homes in this sought-after neighborhood to explain the history behind it and its well-known attractions.

Known for its 130-acre park and the historic Victorian neighborhood that surrounds it, Grant Park offers several opportunities for education on the history of the surrounding area. Just walking through its charming streets, one can find two-story mansions, Queen Anne homes and one-story Victorian cottages, as well as several beloved local attractions that share a deep history with the city.

Also located in Grant Park is Atlanta’s oldest tourist attraction featuring an interesting history with the city, Zoo Atlanta. Founded in 1889 when a traveling circus went bankrupt while in the area, a local businessman bought the animals and donated them to the City of Atlanta. From there, Zoo Atlanta was born. Today, approximately 1,500 animals call Zoo Atlanta home, two of the most popular being the Giant Pandas and the Western Lowland Gorilla.

Grant Park is also home to Historic Oakland Cemetery, one of Atlanta’s oldest cultural sites. Reflecting the Victorian, garden-style cemeteries, Oakland Cemetery covers 48 acres and is the resting place of some of the city’s most notable citizens including Gone with The Wind author Margaret Mitchell and golf fame Bobby Jones. Maynard Jackson, the first black mayor of Atlanta and the first black mayor of any southern city, also rests at Oakland Cemetery along with 27 former Atlanta mayors, six Georgia governors and multiple authors and soldiers. The beautiful garden setting makes Oakland Cemetery a great place to walk through on your own or join one of the many tours the cemetery hosts throughout the year.

Nestled among this storied Atlanta neighborhood across from the artist-driven landmark, Beacon Atlanta, Pratt Stacks by The Providence Group offers a stunning condo community uniquely designed for authentic Atlanta living. Over 40 homes have already sold in this new community, further proving that Pratt Stacks and Grant Park is the place to be in downtown Atlanta.
