Atlanta’s favorite bakery has made its way to the Upper Westside! In the latest vlog from The Providence Group, Susie Proffitt with Atlanta’s Best visits Henri’s Bakery in Buckhead to speak with owner Anthony DiNardo and learn more about the new bakery location in Upper Westside.
As one of the city’s most iconic establishments, Henri’s Bakery has a long history with the City of Atlanta. After moving from France and working at The Baltimore Hotel for a few years, DiNardo’s great-grandfather Henri Fiscus decided to go into business for himself. He bought a small bakery downtown in 1929 and from there, Henri’s Bakery was born.
Today, Henri’s has grown to become an Atlanta staple and was also named one of the top 10 bakeries in the world. Due to its growth, the bakery has expanded to include a location in Sandy Springs and the latest location in Atlanta’s Upper Westside. When Henri’s moved its Buckhead location down the street, they needed to find a new place to house their production facility. The Upper Westside had everything DiNardo was looking for in terms of proximity to service both the Buckhead and Sandy Springs locations, making it the perfect space for the new facility.
While the Upper Westside location was originally intended to be a production facility, plans changed once the business learned more about the incredible neighboring area and everything that was going on in it. They went back to the drawing board, redesigned their plans and added a retail arm onto the front of the store, which has been a perfect addition to the facility.
Nearly two years after opening the Upper Westside location, Henri’s Bakery has received great support from the local community. Business has been so successful that the bakery plans to possibly expand again in 2020 by adding an additional 3,000 square feet.
