Top Predicted Paint Color Trends For 2018

December 20th, 2017

The Providence Group’s Design Studio watches trends daily in the interior design market so that we can offer our customers the latest and greatest products in the market. When you visit the Design Studio for your first appointment, you will find quality products such as: Wellborn Cabinetry, Cambria quartz countertops, granite, Dal Tile’s beautiful line, and Mohawk floorings renowned carpet and hardwood. In this post we explore and share the paint color trends for 2018.

In 2016, Simply White and Alabaster White were the “shade of the time”. In 2017 there was a transition to darker neutrals, like Poised Taupe and Mushroom. For 2018, it seems fitting that many are predicting even deeper and bolder colors are going to be all the rage.

One of the first paint companies to release their prediction for 2018 was PPG Paints, who named Black Flame (PPG1043-7) their new “it” shade. Black Flame was described as an “unprecedented, statement-making black with deep tones of indigo.” They also claim it reflects the rebirth of classic black and provokes feelings of hope, privacy, and classic modernism.

As for Olympic Paints & Stains, they say to watch out for Black Magic (OL116), which “brings an airy and soft space down to Earth.” When paired with a copper pendant light and white trim, it is claimed to be the perfect mix of masculine and feminine.

You won’t only see dark hues on walls in 2018. Sherwin Williams predicts next year will all be about three unexpected and surprisingly bright color palettes–Affinity (blue, fuchsia and brown), Connectivity (blue, green and high-def yellow) and Sincerity (neutrals, green and pink).
