Bellmoore Park in Johns Creek, Georgia, offers a wide variety of amenities and Lifestyle Director Gary Furbish is there to manage it all. In the latest vlog installment by The Providence Group, Furbish explains his role as Lifestyle Director and all he does to make the community feel like home for its residents.
As the Lifestyle Director at Bellmore Park, Furbish acts as the guiding hand that keeps everything moving within the community when it comes to community events and lifestyle. Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Furbish works out of the community’s 8,000-square-foot clubhouse. The community clubhouse and surrounding area offer incredible amenities such as office workspaces, a fitness center, swimming pool, event lawn, playground and more for homeowners to enjoy while also serving as the central gathering spot for planned community events.
Being the master-planned community that it is, Bellmoore Park has a diverse population when it comes to age with groups ranging from empty nesters, families with young children, families with older children and even some single individuals. As the lifestyle director, it is Furbish’s job to make sure that the community offers something interesting for everyone. One thing that Furbish has found popular among residents is annual events such as the community’s Summer Extravaganza, Fall Festival, Diwali party, Jingle Mingle and the incredibly popular Super Bowl party.
“We try to make sure that everybody in the community can enjoy it, so you have to make an activity range from the hardcore people who were there to really watch the game, the people who were there just to be around and, of course, things to keep the kids occupied,” Furbish said.
While hosting community events is part of the job, it’s not always about the party. In addition to parties, Furbish has also planned several exciting events centered around health and fitness by aligning with a company to do complimentary nutritional and fitness events assessments for homeowners. These events have become such a success that some Bellmoore Park residents have even stepped up to take part in leading them.
“We actually have a really popular ergonomist who lives here in Bellmoore Park,” Furbish said. “He came in and gave his whole review of the food. We had a really diverse turnout, so that was really exciting for me.”
While leading community events is a large role as it is, Furbish is also there to help residents with their own event needs and is happy to assist residents in finding caterers, coordinators, decorators or whatever else they need to make their vision come to life. Furbish is also available to help homeowners, particularly those new to the area, find referrals for housekeepers, dog walkers, interior renovators and more.
According to Furbish, one of the key elements of a successful lifestyle director is maintaining communication with residents. Bellmoore Park homeowners have access to communication through the community’s Facebook page, website and regular community e-blasts about upcoming news and events. As the lifestyle director, Furbish also relies heavily on homeowners’ feedback. These comments and concerns let him know what’s going on in the community and what homeowners want to see from it in the future. So far, this aspect of his job has made a positive impact on the community.
“We’re hearing from the homeowners what it is that they want and making it happen,” Furbish said. “It gives people a sense of community and it helps to make a development feel like a home.”
