Entertaining Essentials: Hosting Spring Gatherings in Your New Home

April 9th, 2024
Congratulations! You bought a new home from The Providence Group just in time for warm weather activities and spring events.

To have a memorable spring gathering in your new home, you’ll need to finalize a few essential details, like solidifying your guest list, buying food and drinks, and finding games to play with your family and friends. The Providence Group is here to ensure your party goes off without a hitch so you can enjoy the fun, feeling relaxed and stress-free. Let's dive into the steps of celebrating new beginnings in your new metro Atlanta home

Unpack, Declutter, and Settle Into Your New Home

Before you buy party supplies and call the caterer, make sure your home is clear of boxes and debris in the areas where your guests will stay. A clutter-free house will make your family and friends feel welcomed and like you prepared well in advance for the party.

It also allows your new home to be shown in the best light possible, highlighting the intricate features we included in the floor plan and your design choices to ensure it stands out. Don’t forget to have essential items like kitchen and bathroom products in the right place on the day of your party.

Send RSVP Invites ASAP!

The next step is figuring out who is coming to your home. Nothing stops party prep like a guest list of people who canceled at the last minute. Send invites early so everyone can get the plans on their calendar. A month in advance is a great time to start sending RSVP’s. Decide if you want to use a free website like Eventbrite or Jotform, create a group chat using apps like WhatsApp or GroupMe, or just call your guests with the news.

Regardless of your chosen method, remind your guests about the party a week before the event so you don’t have extra food and drinks to get rid of or unused seating areas. Also, make sure to tell everyone if this gathering is kid-friendly!

Create a Mixologist Station for Specialty Cocktails & Mocktails

Ready to sip on spring cocktails? To add a bit of personality and artistic flair to your special event, create a mixologist station and allow your guests to play bartender with their favorite flavors. This is an excellent idea for adult-only parties, but it can be made into a DIY mocktail bar to be more inclusive of everyone’s dietary needs. Here are a few drink suggestions for any upcoming spring occasion, such as housewarming gatherings, Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, and more!

Buffet-Style Menu or Professional Catering?

The menu is one of the most important parts of hosting any party. The easiest way to host a gathering with food is to have a buffet-style menu; however, paying for a professional catering service might save you time in the long run. It may also be tastier than what you may whip up if you're still working on your cooking skills.

With a buffet, your friends and family can choose what they want from various choices, and the setup can accommodate those who want a second or third helping of food. The large kitchens and dining rooms we build in each home allow for everyone to dine comfortably and for food to be prepared quickly. A catering service can create unique dishes that elevate your dining experience and include all your guests' dietary preferences.

What To Do for the Coveted Kids Table

Whichever menu choice you make, consider adding a separate appetizer or snack table so everyone (especially children) can graze on them throughout the party. Party food favorites like flatbread pizza, mozzarella sticks, cheese plates or fondue, fruit bowls, and charcuterie trays are easy to prepare or purchase and are always a big hit with the kids.

All Things Party Games

With a beautiful new home to show your guests and warmer weather to enjoy, why not take your party outside? Classic lawn games like croquet, table tennis, and cornhole are excellent ways to keep the fun times going and allow your friends and family to spend time in the spacious backyard and patio areas.

Consider bringing your guests to community amenity areas for a pickleball match, to relax by the fire pit, or to go for a refreshing swim in our resort-style pools. Several of The Providence Group’s new construction communities have these amenities and more. Check out our recent blog for more info on Outdoor Community Amenities You’ll Love this Spring

Popular group games like Family Feud™, Uno™, and Cards Against Humanity™ are great to get people laughing and engaged for hours. If children are at the party, remember to have an area to play kid-friendly games, like Duck, Duck, Goose, Twister™, and Connect 4™. There’s also the option to host a sports game watch party for winning teams like the Atlanta Braves© and Atlanta United©, who are beginning their new seasons this month!

With this list of top entertaining essentials for spring, we know your next gathering will be just what you need to welcome the new season in your home.
