With the upcoming school year varying between virtual and in-person learning options, The Providence Group is proud to build within the Forsyth County School District at several of its communities. In fact, its new Alpharetta community Central Park at Deerfield Township is districted for sought-after Denmark High.
As the seventh-largest school district in the state of Georgia, the Forsyth County School District is well-known for its top-notch public schools. Schools within the district have experienced increased growth and diversity over the past several years, all while maintaining their same small-town feel.
Headed by Principal Heather Gordy, Denmark High is not only the newest high school in Forsyth County, but it is also the largest in the state of Georgia by campus area. Built to relieve overcrowding issues at South Forsyth High and West Forsyth High, Denmark High broke ground in 2016 and opened its doors to students for the 2018-2019 school year. In its inaugural year, the school opened with an enrollment of 1,300 students grades 9-12 and has since increased to a student body of 1,900 in the most recent school year.
Denmark High is named after Dr. Leila Denmark, one of the first female pediatricians whose former medical office was located adjacent to the school. As the “Home of the Great Danes,” the school is proud to offer its flagship veterinary program as part of the Career Pathway options, giving students the opportunity to explore areas of veterinary science. The school maintains equestrian facilities from the former landowner to make this popular program a success.
According to the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement, Denmark High’s overall performance is higher than 92% of the state and its academic growth is higher than 63% of schools in the state. Embracing the areas of academics, fine arts and athletics, the school offers students a well-rounded education ideal for future success.
