A Beloved Summer Festival is Back
The Summer Shade Festival in Grant Park will take place on August 27 and 28, in the park that this Atlanta neighborhood is named for. Widely known as the home of Zoo Atlanta, it’s also a large, beautiful, and venerable city park. You’ll get to see the park come alive with an art market, food vendors, live music, fun activities, and exhibitors from all over the city. It’s a fundraiser, supporting the Grant Park Conservancy - a nonprofit group dedicated to beautifying and preserving this beloved historic park.
Quality Vendors and Amazing Artisans The organizers have made it clear that the footprint for this year’s festival will be smaller than in previous years, but don’t let that scare you! It’s because they want to make sure the select artists and vendors they’ve welcomed from around the city can get ample foot traffic - and that means you’ll get to browse some incredible pieces. The market features local goods ranging from breathtaking traditional art, to unique mixed-media pieces, and from furniture and homegoods down to jewelry and handmade toys. Everyone will find something amazing to bring home - even if it’s just the memories and the warm feeling of community from supporting the park!
Food for Every Taste
Local restaurants, cafes, and sweet shops will be in attendance too. Experience all the variety of food that Atlanta has to offer, with fresh crepes, sweet or savory pies, Mediterranean food, burgers, noodles, and plenty more to choose from. Of course, Atlanta’s own King of Pops will be in attendance, accompanied by a long list of other dessert destinations serving up sweet treats. You’ll surely discover a new favorite here, whether it’s a nearby restaurant to love or an incredible food truck to follow around town.
A Unique Community, a Beautiful Home Music and entertainment lineups and the layout of the festival are all being finalized right now, and will be revealed closer to the date. Additionally, a charity 5K is taking place as part of the festival. It adds up to an unbelievable community event, all to support a neighborhood with an eclectic and unmistakable Atlanta character.
